DESCRIPTION

Verbal ability tests generally contain comprehension, sentence completion and spelling. Generally candidates will need to have good skills in grammar, verbal analogies and follow detailed instructions. A candidate whose second language is English will find the verbal ability test quite a challenge. It is specifically designed by and for native speakers of English. Those who have highly developed language skills in English will find the verbal ability test difficult.

Another important factor that affects the verbal ability tests is the deterioration in the spellings of many people. Especially, if they have moved out of academics and learning for quite a few years ago. Nowadays, the use of computers which helps in spell check also leads to deterioration in the knowledge of spellings. Many words or complex words are checked in the computer.

These days many of the job roles require you to read and understand information. It may be manuals, reports or simple instructions on the computer. Correctly understanding the information is of utmost importance and hence the verbal ability tests enable the employer to test the comprehension capabilities of the candidates. Questions which are simple and straightforward are aimed at candidates for administrative roles, whereas more complex questions like deduction and reasoning are for management roles.
